This is a tough question! I loved the focus on family. But I also really enjoyed the talk on Saturday afternoon by Elder Renlund. I loved the quote, "a saint is a sinner who keeps on trying." None of us are perfect! The whole reason we are here on earth is to learn and progress. God indeed cares a lot more about who we are and who we are becoming than who we once were. As we love each other and help each other and turn to the Lord in humility, we can improve and become better and help others do the same.
I was touched by Elder Brent H. Nielsen's talk on the return of the prodigal. He gave a very personal account of his sister's straying from the faith for 15 years and eventual return. I think it is a talk and a story I will never forget. One part that struck me was when he said, "I realized that in some ways, I was the prodigal son. All of us fall short of the glory of God. All of us need the Savior's atonement to heal us. All of us are lost and need to be found." He points out that even though he had remained "faithful" in the Church, he and his sister were actually on the same path back to the Father. It makes me realize how much we all need the mercy and grace offered through the atonement of Christ to bridge that gap between ourselves and our Father in Heaven. When we "come to ourselves," They are waiting with open arms.
