Pathway

From Delta Stacey:

If you are interested in the Pathway program you must apply before March 30. Tuition is not due until the week before classes begin.  There is no cost to apply.

BYU Idaho's Pathway program may be your answer for starting/completing your education.  It is now a low tuition of only $65 a credit; admissions are simply taking 5 to 10 minutes to complete an online form; there are no admission costs, or application essays, and you do not need an SAT or ACT test.  In fact you do not even need a GED.  You can apply at pathway.lds.org

Although the program initially was developed to provide an academic start for students with some obstacle keeping them from beginning college; it also provides a chance for people to continue an interrupted degree.  The combination of online classes with one weekly Gathering for support has encouraged several to sign up.

Both this area's 18-30 year old group  and the over 31 year old group of Pathway now have the minimum students for a class, which will begin online April 20, the first Thursday Gatherings will be that following Thursday evening.

Semesters are 14 weeks long. Attendance to Thursday evening Gatherings are required.  Two classes, totaling 5 credits will be taught each semester.  One will be a religion course and the other will be one of the three courses selected by the Pathway program.

Students 18-30 will take a Institute course as their religion, on Thursdays.  Since Institute is free. there will be no tuition charged...making it possible for five credits for $195, each semester.

Students over 31 will take a religion course online, making their semester total $325 for five credits.

All students within each group take the same courses.  Thursday discussion groups, or Gatherings, allow students time to discuss, ask questions, and work together to improve their work and understanding.

If you maintain a B average in the year of Pathway you are then eligible to continue BYUI online degree program for the reduced tuition, currently it is about half of their regular online tuition, at $65.  There are several possible certificates, associate degrees, and bachelor degrees available online.

Or, you would be accepted into BYUI on campass where tuition would be the standard price.
